HEAVY.COM’S “THE HEAVY SHOW” TO BE SHOT LIVE AT THE SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL
“The Heavy Show,” Streamed More Than 14 Million Times in 2007, Hosts Celebrity Guests from Sundance’s Village at the Yard
Park City, UT – January, 16 2008: Heavy.com, http://www.heavy.com/ one of the web’s leading online brands and the leader for 18-34 year old guys, today announced the production of a special edition of “The Heavy Show” onsite at the Sundance Film Festival. Streamed more than 14 million times in 2007 and averaging over 1.5 million streams a week in 2008, “The Heavy Show” is Heavy.com’s flagship series in which host Taryn Southern (who has appeared on Good Morning America, Hardball with Chris Matthews and Inside Edition, among others) writes and plays different characters commenting on current events and celebrity gossip. This special Sundance edition of “The Heavy Show” will be shot live at the “Village at the Yard,” a VIP, invite-only venue located between Sundance’s two main screening facilities and official festival hotels, where Taryn will interview celebrity guests about their Sundance experience.
“While the ongoing TV writers’ strike has undeniably laid a serious burden over the broadcast entertainment industry, Heavy.com continues to thrive, featuring the freshest, most authentic talent out there,” said Jimmy Jellinek, Heavy.com’s Vice President of Entertainment. “We look forward to immersing ourselves in the pool of undiscovered stars showcasing their talent at this year’s Sundance.”
“Heavy.com and ‘The Heavy Show’ are continually at the forefront of all things men and pop culture, so it is no surprise we’ll be documenting and poking fun at the cultural institution that is Sundance,” said Taryn Southern. “Expect wild celebrity interviews mixed with the irreverent humor Heavy’s fans have loved for years.”
Taryn Southern, the creator and star of the Hott4Hill viral video sensation, was one of “American Idol” season three’s Top 50, and has starred in series and specials for CBS.com, Yahoo!, Myspace, and MSN. Taryn recently produced and starred in “Project MyWorld,” a hit television show on DirecTV. She has served as a leading correspondent at the 2007 Golden Globe Awards for MSNBC, and the 2007 Kid’s Choice Awards and the Young Hollywood Awards for Showtime.
